Tear Gas Cleanup in Oregon

Tear gas is a chemical weapon used by law enforcement. Law enforcement use tear gas most often to subdue violent criminals. Tear gas causes irritation of the eyes, nose,  skin, throat and lungs, triggering difficulty seeing and/or breathing. When tear gas is used, it releases an oil-based mist that is able to penetrate even the tightest of spaces in any room. Also, tear gas can leave a paint type of substance on walls and surfaces where it first ruptures. Tear gas can be very damaging; if it penetrates walls, the drywall will need to be replaced.

Tear gas is actually not technically a gas, but rather made up of very small solid particles that are similar to powder. There are several compounds that are referred to as tear gas, but CS, CN (mace), and OC (pepper spray) are the most widely used. Each type of tear gas requires different methods to clean, and when they’re not properly treated they can continue to cause irritation to the mucous membranes and damage to the respiratory system.
